Study in the Heart of Stavanger
Use the library to study at the heart of Stavanger. Sølvberget offers plenty of space in the library for both individual study and group work.
You can search the library collections and catalogues for relevant textbooks to borrow. The library subscribes to several digital services and archives, including newspapers, Lovdata and dictionaries available to its users. We offer Free public Wifi, (SK Public), use of computers, possibility to print, copy and scan.
Books to help you learn Norwegian
Find books to help you learn Norwegian or other languages on the 2. floor of the library.
You will find language courses, dictionaries and grammar books, as well as other books and games that can be helpful for learning a language.
Language Café and Norwegian Training
Practice Norwegian together with others. The Norwegian Language Café at Sølvberget is a perfect space for meeting others and practicing the Norwegian language in a safe and educational environment.
The Language Cafés take place four days a week and is a collaboration between Sølvberget Library, Stavanger Red Cross and Stavanger Active People Society (SAPS).
Language Cafés are also organised at the library branches at Rennesøy on Mondays and Madla on Thursdays.

Sew and Learn Norwegian
Once a week women with international background sew together in Verkstedet at Sølvberget. Volunteers from Stavanger Red Cross assist with training and guidance. See calendar for more information.
Homework Assistance
Youth and adults can drop in and work on their homework or studies independently or with the help of volunteer tutors.
The homework assistance is run by volunteers with a higher education and takes place two days a week on the 3. floor at Sølvberget.

Drop-in Computer-help
The library offers free computer guidance.
Get computer guidance four days a week whether you need help to create an e-mail account, publish pictures on Facebook, to get in touch with Norwegian authorities online, or other digital challenges. You receive 20 minutes free assistance. Feel free to bring your own PC, tablet or smartphone.
Monday-Thursday 17.00-19.00. Ask at the counter on the 1. floor.
Computer guidance is also given in the library branches at Rennesøy on Mondays and Madla on Tuesdays.

Legal Assistance
The Lawyer’s Association offers free legal advice at Sølvberget Thursdays from 15.00 - 19.00 in Klasserommet on the 3rd floor.
A lawyer from Advokatvakten offers free legal advice for up to half an hour pr. person. It is a first come first served offer. There may be some delay at times. NB: Due to limited time it is advisable to bring a chronological overview of the matter you wish to discuss. Remember to bring all relevant papers.
