Miles Davis «On the corner», a record I really wanted to dig but I never seemed to get my head around it.

Leroy Smart «Let everyman survive» funny but still serious. Roots to the bone.

Wayne Shorter «Speak no evil» a beautiful cover. Blue Note never dissappoints

Singers and Players «War of words» simplistic and stylish black and white cover

Jah Shaka «Commandments of dub part 6 – Deliverance» a wonderful handdrawn cover that captures the raw essence of a Jah Shaka session

Samler du på plater? Hvorfor?
Yes. Mostly reggae and dub from the 70´s and 80´s but also some spiritual jazz, 90´s hip-hop and afrobeat from the 70´s. I have collected, bought and sold records since the mid 80´s. It was exciting in the crate digging days when there was no internet. You really had to do serious research to find what you liked. It was like a quest for the holy grail everytime.

Hva er den viktigste forskjellen fra da du begynte å samle på plater og hvordan det er nå?
In the early days I bought everything I could get my hands on basically, but over the years I have become more «picky» in what I buy. I have now trimmed down my collection to around 3000 records that I really love and appreciate.

Favoritt blant fysiske platebutikker?
Back in the crate digging days it was Daddy Kool in London,

today I would say Out on the floor records in Camden, London

Three crucial albums missing from my collection with UK Roots band Creation Rebel, «Rebel Vibration», «Close encounters of the third world» and «Starship Africa».

The 4 LP set «Jesus Dread 1972-1977», an amazing compilation of Yabby You´s work from Blood and Fire.

Burning Spear live in Stockholm 1989. Amazing concert.

I enjoy watching movies and series. Cooking is fun too.

Focused but broad at the same time....

Er det en musikksjanger som du gjerne skulle brukt mer tid på?
African music from the 70´s. The funky afrobeat stuff from Ghana and Nigeria.

Hvor gammel var du når du «oppdaget» musikken og hva gjorde at du ble hekta?
I was around 14 when I got a tape with Black Uhuru´s «The dub factor». It totally blew ny mind and from there on I started to dig deep into reggae and dub music.

Hva slags musikk hørte du på i ungdomstiden?
Before I discovered reggae and dub I listened to The Smiths, U2, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Duran Duran and stuff like that.

Har musikksmaken din endret seg?
Well, I discovered jazz through listening to a lot of hip hop in the early 90´s and I went through a period of listening to a lot of trip hop, acid jazz, rare groove and afrobeat á la Fela Kuti. However, I was still firmly rooted in roots reggae and dub which was still my main focus from day one.
