«Outlaw country» er en musikalsk bevegelse og en undersjanger av country som kjennetegner en gruppe artister som ikke ville være del av Nashvilles miljø rundt «popcountry».
Blant de meste kjente utøvere innen «outlaw»-musikk er Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, David Allan Coe, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Townes Van Zandt og Kris Kristofferson. Både Nelson og Jennings er innlemmet i Country Music Hall of Fame.
